Certified Cybersecurity Technician

The Certified Cybersecurity Technician (C|CT) is an entry level credential from EC-Council, the organization behind Certified Ethical Hacker. Exam 212-82 tests whether you can handle technician level security work, from securing networks and reading logs to responding to incidents. It suits help desk staff, network and systems administrators, students and career changers who want a first formal cybersecurity qualification that includes practical tasks as well as theory.

Exam overview and purpose

EC-Council built the C|CT to validate technician level IT and cybersecurity skills and to address demand for cybersecurity technicians. Exam structure and format

On scoring, EC-Council sets the cut score separately for each exam form, and depending on the form you receive it can range from 60% to 78%. You cannot know your target percentage in advance, so aim for comfortable mastery rather than a minimum.

• Threats and attacks: information security threats and vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and malware types.

• Operations and response: network troubleshooting, traffic monitoring, log analysis, incident response and computer forensics.

EC-Council does not publish percentage weights per module on its course page. Any percentage table you see elsewhere, including on third party sites, should be treated as an estimate.

Cost and exam vouchers

The exam price varies by region, delivery partner and whether the voucher comes bundled with training. EC-Council’s learning site lists on demand course options starting at $599, which is a course price and not the exam fee alone. EC-Council exam vouchers are valid for a maximum of one year from purchase. An unused, unexpired voucher can be extended for 3 months at USD 49 or for a year at USD 99. Registration process

Register through EC-Council or an authorized training partner, since these are the channels that issue exam vouchers. After you obtain a voucher, you schedule and take the exam through the EC-Council Exam Portal, where remote proctoring is used.
