The Salesforce Certified Sales Cloud Consultant exam, renamed Salesforce Certified Agentforce Sales Consultant in July 2026, tests whether you can design and implement Sales Cloud solutions that fit a customer’s sales process. It is aimed at consultants, senior administrators and business analysts who already hold the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator credential and have worked on customer facing implementations. This page summarizes the exam format, cost, domains, prerequisites and retake rules based on Salesforce’s published guidance.

What the certification validates

Salesforce positions this credential for consultants who design and deploy sales solutions that support a customer’s business processes. Its description of the target candidate points to at least one year of Salesforce experience, work with sales processes and business solutions, and involvement across the full project lifecycle of a Sales Cloud implementation.

The exam rewards judgment more than memorized setup steps. Most questions give you a business situation, such as a sales team that needs regional pricing or a rollout with weak user adoption, and ask which approach fits best. Several options are often technically possible, so the skill being tested is choosing the simplest one that meets the stated requirement.

Because of the rename, older study guides and resumes still say Sales Cloud Consultant. Salesforce’s own name change guidance reportedly states that existing holders did not need to earn the credential again. Older outlines, however, predate the dedicated AI domain, so check any resource against the current guide.

Eligibility requirements

The one formal prerequisite is the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator credential. The consultant exam assumes you already understand objects, fields, security, automation, reports and data administration, and it does not retest them from scratch. Beyond that, Salesforce recommends practical implementation experience rather than requiring it.

Exam structure and format

The exam contains 60 scored questions plus up to 5 unscored questions that Salesforce uses to evaluate future content. You will not know which ones are unscored. The 105 minute time limit already allows for them.

Salesforce describes the questions as multiple choice. Older guides also mention multiple select items, so read each question’s instructions for how many answers to choose. Reported passing scores have changed across versions. Current sources show 73% for the English exam and 69% for the Japanese exam. Salesforce can change this, so confirm it in the official exam guide before you book.

The exam is proctored and can be taken at a testing center or online. Reference materials are not allowed during the exam. Salesforce lists English, French, Japanese and Spanish as exam languages. The current guide states that questions align to the Summer ‘26 release, so feature names and behavior should match that release.

Consulting and Implementation Strategies covers the work around the configuration: discovery workshops, requirements, stakeholder communication, training, change management, deployment planning, the project lifecycle, and what to do when adoption is low after launch.

Practical Application of Sales Cloud Expertise follows the path from Lead to Opportunity to Quote to Close. It includes security design (role hierarchy, sharing rules, account and opportunity teams, permission sets and permission set groups), products and price books, campaigns, currency management, and deciding when to use standard features, custom development or third party tools.

Sales Lifecycle tests how you connect business goals and sales KPIs to the right features. Topics include sales and marketing processes, forecasting, territory management, Sales Engagement, reports and dashboards, and when each related product is appropriate.

Data Management covers migration planning, integration considerations, scalability with large data volumes, and data quality controls such as validation and duplicate rules.

Predictive and Generative AI covers the predictive tools in Sales Cloud, the generative tools in Agentforce for Sales, and the ethical issues Salesforce addresses through its Trusted AI Principles. Despite the new name, AI is the smallest domain, so most of your preparation should still go to process, implementation and data.

Registration process

Salesforce certification exams are scheduled through Trailhead Academy. In general you sign in with your Trailhead credentials, select the credential, choose a testing center or an online proctored session, and pay the exam fee. Salesforce also publishes a pre check process for online proctored exams, covering your equipment and environment. Because scheduling steps and policies change, follow the instructions on the official Salesforce certification pages rather than a third party summary.

Cost, retakes and keeping the credential current

The registration fee is US$200 plus applicable taxes. A reported retake fee is US$100, which is half the original price. The retake policy is reported as three attempts per release cycle, with a 24 hour wait after the first failed attempt, 14 days after the second, and a wait until the next release cycle after the third. Confirm these rules on the official site before relying on them Want to test your knowledge on another certification? Take our Italian Proficiency Test Online Intermedio B1 practice test.

Salesforce credentials do not carry a fixed expiry date, but they must be kept current through annual maintenance modules on Trailhead. The maintenance requirement for this credential is currently tied to the Platform Administrator maintenance badge.

Career value

This credential is most relevant to people who implement or advise on Sales Cloud for customers, such as consultants at Salesforce partner firms, internal Salesforce leads, sales operations specialists who own the CRM, and business analysts who write requirements for sales teams. It signals that you can run discovery, scope a sales process, make security and data decisions, and lead rollout, which goes beyond the configuration skills shown by the Administrator exam. The Agentforce branding and the new AI domain also show that Salesforce expects sales consultants to advise on AI features responsibly, not only on core CRM setup.

Preparing with practice tests

Salesforce recommends combining hands on experience, Trailhead learning and the official exam guide. Practice tests work best as a diagnostic on top of that. Review the explanation for every question you miss, then practice the underlying concept in a Developer Edition org.
