Salesforce Administrator
The Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator exam is the step after the Administrator certification, aimed at admins who already run a live org and now handle complex sharing models, Flow automation, Experience Cloud access, reporting and deployments. Salesforce materials now also label it Platform Administrator II. It tests judgment in scenarios, asking which feature is the most scalable and secure choice, rather than recall of menu clicks. This page summarizes the official exam details and how to prepare.
This credential shows that an administrator can design and maintain a Salesforce org beyond day to day configuration. That means choosing between sharing rules, restriction rules and permission set groups, deciding when Flow is enough and when Apex is justified, and supporting Sales Cloud and Service Cloud features such as forecasting, entitlements and Omni-Channel routing. It also covers monitoring an org and moving changes safely between sandboxes and production.
Because Salesforce updates its platform three times a year, the exam outline is revised to follow the releases. Workflow Rules and Process Builder have reached end of support, so current preparation centers on Flow.
Candidates must hold the Salesforce Certified Administrator credential (now called Platform Administrator in newer materials) before this exam. Beyond that, Salesforce does not set a mandatory course. It recommends a mix of hands on experience, training and self study. Working through each exam objective in a Developer Edition org is more useful than reading alone, since many questions present two or three technically possible answers.
The exam contains 60 scored multiple choice and multiple select questions. Salesforce may add up to five unscored questions to gather data, and these do not affect your result, so you cannot tell which ones they are. You have 105 minutes, and the passing score is 65 percent, which works out to about 39 correct answers out of 60. No printed or online materials may be used during the test. It is delivered as a proctored exam, either at a testing center or online. The registration fee is USD 200 plus applicable taxes, and a retake costs USD 100 plus applicable taxes.
The published outline groups the exam into seven sections. Weights below come from the current outline as reported in study guides, so check the official guide for any changes.
Security and Access (20%): advanced sharing, delegated administration, permission design, Experience Cloud access and org level security such as login controls and encryption.
Process Automation (20%): record triggered, scheduled, screen and autolaunched flows, approval processes, order of execution and troubleshooting.
Objects and Applications (19%): person accounts, contacts to multiple accounts, relationship design, Dynamic Forms and console apps.
Data and Analytics Management (13%): duplicate management, data import strategy, large data volumes, custom report types, joined reports and reporting snapshots.
Cloud Applications (11%): products, quotes, forecasting and territories on the sales side, plus Knowledge, entitlements and Omni-Channel on the service side.
Auditing and Monitoring (10%): Setup Audit Trail, field history, login history, debug logs and Event Monitoring.
Environment Management and Deployment (7%): sandbox types, change sets, DevOps Center and packages.
Security and automation together account for 40 percent of the exam, so they deserve the largest share of your study time. Do not skip the smaller sections, though. Seven percent still means roughly four questions.
Salesforce credentials are scheduled through the official Salesforce certification channels, with delivery handled by a proctoring partner. Start from the credential page for the exam, which links to the current exam guide and the scheduling steps. Choose between an onsite testing center and an online proctored session, and read the technical and identification requirements for online delivery before exam day. Because fees, taxes, policies and the retake waiting period can change, confirm them on the official site at the time you book rather than relying on any third party summary.
Salesforce admins often use this certification to move from maintaining a single org to owning its architecture decisions. The skills it covers map directly to roles such as senior Salesforce administrator, CRM manager, business systems analyst and Salesforce consultant, where you are expected to design sharing models, govern automation and manage releases. It also serves as a foundation for further Salesforce credentials, including Platform App Builder and architect track exams such as Sharing and Visibility Architect.
Salesforce certifications are maintained through periodic requirements tied to platform releases rather than a one time pass. The exact maintenance rules and deadlines are published by Salesforce and can change, so review them on the official site after you pass.
Scenario heavy exams reward repetition under time pressure. The free practice tests on AllExamQuestions.com can help you see how closely a scenario question can resemble another, find the domains where you hesitate, and get used to managing 105 minutes. Treat them as a way to find gaps, then return to the official exam guide and your own sandbox to close them.
