Cisco updated the 350-801 CLCOR blueprint to v2.0 on February 3, 2026, and the shift was not cosmetic. On-premises call control now carries roughly a third of the exam on its own, while cloud and hybrid services jumped to around a quarter of the total — a direct response to how many organizations have moved calling to Webex. Engineers who trained on the older CUCM-only version of this exam are sometimes surprised by how much Control Hub, hybrid services, and cloud-connected UC now show up alongside classic dial plan and SIP questions. That blend of legacy telephony depth and cloud administration is what makes CLCOR feel different from a straightforward networking exam.
CLCOR is organized into six domains, and the weighting tells you where Cisco expects your depth to be:
Infrastructure and Design (15%) — collaboration architecture decisions: on-premises, cloud, and hybrid deployment models, codec selection, and how design choices affect call quality and scalability.
Protocols and Endpoints (10%) — SIP message flow, SDP negotiation, DTMF relay methods, and how endpoints register and negotiate media.
On-Premises Call Control (30%) — CUCM call routing, dial plan elements (route patterns, translation patterns, partitions and calling search spaces), digit manipulation, and media resource allocation. This is the single largest domain, and it's where most CUCM administrators already have a head start.
Voice Gateways and Session Border Controllers (10%) — CUBE configuration, PSTN connectivity, and SIP trunk troubleshooting between on-premises and the outside world.
Cloud and Hybrid Services (25%) — Webex Calling, Cloud Connected UC, Cloud Connected PSTN, and hybrid services like Hybrid Calendar and Hybrid Directory, plus the identity plumbing (OAuth, SSO) that ties on-premises and cloud together.
Media and QoS (10%) — LLQ and CBWFQ behavior, DSCP marking, and how QoS policy actually protects voice and video traffic end to end.

CLCOR isn't an entry point — it's the mandatory core exam for CCNP Collaboration, and it doubles as the written qualifier for CCIE Collaboration. Most candidates fall into two groups. The first is CUCM administrators and voice engineers who've been running dial plans and gateways in production for a year or more and are formalizing that experience into a certification. The second is IP telephony or contact center engineers whose employer is migrating to Webex Calling or a hybrid model, and who need the cloud-side knowledge (Control Hub, Cloud Connected PSTN) that their day-to-day CUCM work never touched. It's uncommon to walk into this exam cold; Cisco's own guidance assumes hands-on familiarity with collaboration deployments, not just classroom exposure.
The official 350-801 CLCOR exam runs 120 minutes and typically presents somewhere in the 90–110 question range, mixing standard multiple-choice with drag-and-drop and scenario-based "testlet" items that give you a network diagram or CUCM configuration snippet and ask several questions off the same scenario. The testlets are where time management breaks down — candidates often spend too long parsing a call-flow diagram on question one of a scenario and then rush the remaining two or three questions tied to it. Cisco does not publish a fixed passing score; results use a scaled scoring model, so a rough sense of "70% and you're fine" that applies to some other certification programs doesn't transfer here.
Don't treat this as a single pass-fail rehearsal. Run it once untimed and note which domain trips you up — for most people it's either dial plan logic (calling search spaces and partitions genuinely confuse people who haven't configured them hands-on) or the cloud/hybrid domain, which is newer territory even for veteran CUCM engineers. Then run it again under the 120-minute clock, paying attention to how long you spend on scenario-style questions specifically. If you're consistently over two minutes per testlet question, that's a signal to tighten your reading pattern for SIP traces and dial plan diagrams before exam day, not just to memorize more facts.
The most frequent one is treating calling search space and partition logic as memorization rather than working through the actual routing decision each time — CLCOR questions are written to punish shortcuts here. A close second is underestimating the cloud domain: candidates who've spent years on-premises sometimes skip Webex Control Hub and hybrid services prep because it doesn't match their day job, then lose a quarter of the exam's weight to unfamiliar territory. On the gateway side, people often know CUBE configuration syntax but can't reason through why a SIP trunk is failing when given symptoms, which is how the questions are actually framed. Finally, several candidates misjudge the testlet format itself, assuming each question in a scenario is independent when the diagram or config often changes subtly between questions.
Build a small home lab or use CML/Packet Tracer to actually configure calling search spaces, partitions, and route patterns rather than just reading about them — this domain carries 30% of the exam and rewards muscle memory over flashcards. Get comfortable reading a raw SIP INVITE and SDP body line by line; several protocol questions hinge on spotting what's missing or mismatched in a message flow rather than defining SIP in the abstract. If your job hasn't touched Webex Calling or Control Hub, spend deliberate time in a Webex trial org rather than relying on video walkthroughs — the cloud domain questions assume you've navigated the admin interface, not just watched someone else do it.
